From 21 February to 10 March 2021, members of the Badi community in Karnali Province staged a 16-day protest in front of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, demanding land for farming, employment opportunities, and solutions to other pressing issues. As a result of the protest, the Karnali Province Government of Nepal held a joint meeting with representatives of Badi Sarokar Manch Nepal, leading to a five-point agreement between the government and the Badi Struggle Committee, after which the protest was called off.
