Hikmat Bahadur Badi

Mr. Hikmat Bahadur Badi is an innovative social leader belonging to the Badi community and an established social activist. He initiated his social working career in 2069 B.S. through campaigning for the land rights and sustainable livelihood of the Badi community. He initiated a demonstration that lasted two-and-a-half weeks (February 21 – March 10) in protest against the rights protection of the Badi community in 2021.

For the purpose of offering support to disadvantaged and vulnerable children of the Badi community, he established Hikmat Hostel with the vision of building competitive and competent human resources. Currently, he is the Chairman of Badi Sarokar Manch Nepal (BSMN) and oversees a Child Protection Center (Hostel) for girls and boys.

As a token of appreciation for his service, Mr. Badi received the National Social Welfare Award 2022 from the Institute of Social Welfare, Kathmandu. He has also been appointed an Executive Member of the Girls and Inclusive Education Network, Ministry of Social Development of Karnali Province. He was also part of the Badi Upliftment and Development Committee, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal, and the Task Force on the Development and Upliftment of the Badi Community of Karnali Province (2079 B.S.).

Mr. Badi was recognized as one of Nepal’s Top 40 Young Social Activists Under 40 by Online Khabar News Portal.
