Since 2017, Badi Sarokar Manch Nepal (BSMN) started child protection initiative through running child Protection center for girls and boys from the Badi community who were in vulnerable situation at community level. At the present 126 children (Girls 72 and Boys 54) from the Badi community are staying at hostel with safe environment and getting educational facilities from child protection center. Badi Sarokar Manch Nepal (BSMN) have better experience and and have efficiency to run child protection center.
Demanding with land for farming, ensure of employment and other issues people from the Badi community of Karnali Province have been staging protest in front of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Karnali Province for nearly 16 days from 21st February to 10th March 2021. As a result of 16 days’ protest Karnali Province Government of Nepal organized a joint meeting with representative of Badi Sarokar Manch Nepal and made 5 points agreement in between Karnali Province Government and Badi struggle committee and Badi struggle committee stop their protest.
With following clause of an agreement point no. 2 to strengthening the provincial planning and budgeting process and supporting the Ministry of Social Development to develop sustainable interventions the study on socio-economic condition of Badi community in Karnali Province, 2079 was carried out under the leadership of the Office of Chief Minister and Ministries of Council that has strongly recommended to have its own Badi Profile to quantifying and disaggregated data of the Badi community reflecting their existing situation is required.
In close coordination of the Office of Chief Minister and Ministries of Council and financial and technical support of UNDP-EUSIF, Badi Sarokar Manch Nepal has been carried out to prepare Badi profile of Karnali Province and the Badi profile aims to cover data from each household of the Badi community across Karnali province. The profile includes information on their demographic details, access to resources, access to government allowances, access to basic service delivery, their involvement and participation, unemployment, education health, involvement in the planning process of LGs, and situation of caste-based discrimination in different communities residing in Karnali province. The information collected in developing the profile will help to understand the ground situation of Badi people.
On behalf of Badi Sarokar Manch Nepal, Hikmat Bahadur Badi nominated as Executive Member of Girls and Inclusive Education network formed under the Ministry of Social Development of Karnali Province.
Hikmat Bahadur Badi also nominated as young Social Activist around the Karnali Province under the age of 40 Years.
